Thank God for My MIL

Sunday, August 01, 2010
When I first saw this top at H&M I wanted it. But right when I got to the register, I noticed a smudge. I decided to wait until next time to purchase it. While we were out shopping a couple days ago, I found it again. I purchased it. I took it home and tried it on. Then I noticed a TEAR...a HOLE. After I cried a little, my MIL fixed it for me. It is perfect. You can't even see it. I lucked out with my MIL. Good luck with yours.

Tulle sent me this cute skirt a few days ago. I immediately fell in love with its color and the fabric quality. This is definitely going to be in my closet for a long time before it turns into rags. I love that this is one of my true high-waist skirts - no extra belting needed. I knew I wanted to pair it with my new (and fixed) striped shirt and my Seychelles. I like that it looks a bit Anthro. This isn't my usual simple classic style but I like that I mixed statement pieces together.

  3. Very beautiful! You look gorgeous. I think this looks very much like your classic style, but with a twist. I love this look, and I normally don't wear stripes, but I'd copy this head to toe!

  4. I think this combination looks really cute together! Especially with the contrast between the yellow necklace and teal skirt.

  17. I love H&M for bargains! Do we HAVE one in Utah? I also learned much of my mending skills from Grandma. Now I will at least attempt things I never thought I could fix before.

  18. Stripes stripes, I love stripes! I'm glad that the problem with the top was fixable. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten home to find a weird string hanging or a mis-sewn segment of skirt. Bah.

  19. I LOVE this outfit - it's so perfect - the shape of the skirt, the stripes - just adorable! Definitely is going to be an outfit inspiration for me this week!

And I like the cut of that skirt!

  30. I have that same top from H&M! I love it so much, I want to wear it twice a week. I have to actual limit the number of times I am allowed to wear it.

I love it with that skirt...I've paired mine with a high-waisted pencil skirt, too, and felt really good in it. But mine was black, and I love your addition of color. Hm, I have some colorful fabric and a pattern for a high-waisted pencil skirt...maybe I ought to get on that.

  31. I love your new top and skirt together. The shapes of the clothes on you look great!
I have a similar top, except white with black spots :)

  68. My MIL doesn't show, but she paints beautifully. She also treats me like her real daughter. I've heard so many evil and bad stories of others' MIL. I'm happy ours aren't like that :).

    ReplyDelete
  69. Yay for lovely mothers-in-law! Mine is great too. She always offers to hem my pants for me, haha.
And liking the mixture of black stripes with the blue skirt. I heart black and blue together, even though I was taught never to mix the two. "You'll look like a bruise!" my grandma always said.
    Well, we know better. ;)
