Double your flower necklace as a belt

First time getting dressed this week! I need an award. I don't like getting dressed when there's no where to go...and nowhere have I gone. So I've been living in t-shirts and leggings. Yes, the same ones all week. You think I'm kidding...

I found these blue sequin flats the other day while I was at Ross. It was the last one in my size again. Sequins are ruining me. Next thing you know, I'll be buying sequin pants. (Actually, I have been wanting some... Don't judge.)

I needed a no-fuss and easy outfit today just to run to the thrift stores to check their furniture selections. A dress is always the answer for me. I couldn't resist pairing orange and blue together again. During the pink flower necklace giveaway, Meg mentioned she'd also use the necklace as a belt. I kept that in mind today when I was looking for a fun accessory to go with this dress. I didn't want a skinny belt - it wasn't enough for me. I didn't want to wear any jewelry - it would defeat the point of the no-fuss outfit. So why not do both??

Wearing Gap dress ($7), DIY yellow flower necklace ($3), Report sequin flats ($14), and thrifted quilted purse ($4).

  10. I just saw some vintage sequin flats on etsy and thought of you... but they were $35 dollars and didn't look like they were that durable.

  15. More sequined flats? Awesome!!!!
I hate days when I have no wear to go, and get dressed in the hopes that it will lead me somewhere, just so I don't 'waste' the outfit.

  16. If it weren't for work, I'd never get dressed or ready in the morning. But I'll be done with my job after 3 years in only 1 more week. I'm kind of scared of what I'll become. Pretty sure it'll be one big pajama party for a while. Might need an intervention!

  17. Elaine, I totally LOVE this idea. :) And you pull it off so well.

  29. I am totally the same way about not getting dressed unless I have a reason to leave the house. Although I generally wear boxers or workout shorts and an over-sized tee. But still. Nothing more elaborate than that.

  30. Loove the floral belt, it's an unexpected touch of dimension and sprucing up of a simple dress!

  33. I don't think you are joking. When I was unemployed I basically wore the same sweater and jeans every day. Not basically, did. For sure. Resounding affirmative. Totally. Why wash clothes that you barely wore, was my philosophy.

  41. Elaine,

I hope you don't mind me asking but what bottoms do you wear? I wear the carinessa and I find that they hit on top of my knee cap making it very hard to keep modest! Particularly when I sit down. Any tips?

  43. That belt is perfect with the dress. I love how it's so versatile (like all of your wardrobe).

I can now breathe easy knowing you have another pair of sequin flats. I think you'd look great in sequin trousers. I probably shouldn;t share this as it may make your craving worse, but try Betty for inspiration: http://www.leblogdebetty.com/2010/04/02/life-is-like-a-box-of-chocolates/ and http://www.leblogdebetty.com/2009/10/23/sequins-ii/

  53. Nice! Love it as a belt. I actually almost bought a J Crew flower belt to use as a necklace ;)

  54. You look amazing! It looks great as a belt.

I'm underemployed, so I often wear the same outfit for 2 - 3 days in a row since I only wear it for an hour or two. I tell myself I'm being eco-friendly. When I do the laundry these days, 80% of my part of it is just underwear and PJs, which is depressing.
