Who wears short-shorts? NOT ME.

Being modest is hard in the summer time. I often opt for skirts because I like a little breeze now and then. Then there are mom-shorts..... It's hard to pull off bermuda/walking shorts. The secret is to have a looser fit and to roll up the hems like you just don't care...but you really do and spend hours trying to achieve that perfect J.Crew roll. (I didn't.) (No...I did.)

After playing around with different tops and accessories, I decided to do a classic, casual look with the ruffle neckline and pearls. I didn't want it to be too dressy so I added these wedges.

You look so great in these shorts! Short-shorts are so hard to pull off unless you're like 12, so if I wear them, they're usually much longer. Love your wedges!

I love your styling of simple t-shirt, shorts, and pearls lately! And you are absolutely right - Bermuda shorts are tough to style! But you absolutely nail it :)

oooh! I'm totally digging this! Your shorts look magnificent! I like the roll a lot. And I hate shorts too. Breeze please! Actually I don't think I even have any shorts this summer, I've been wearing pants rolled up to capris. (Actually they aren't hemmed so I can't even wear them as pants)

and of course pears with white and ruffles are a sure way to win me over every time.

You look so cute in these! Being modest in Summer is hard. I love fall and winter for that reason! But you rock this!!

Cute, you really pull this look off. I have a hard time getting longer shorts to look "right". I think your advice about looser and rolled is great.

Also, you are just stunning in these photos, as usual.

I definitely agree that it's hard to be modest in the summer time. It's just so hot - I don't want to wear anything but a swim suit. But I'm pretty sure no one would appreciate that... You look way cute (like ALWAYS) and I love the J. Crew roll :)

I think bermuda shorts can be a great element in a woman's wardrobe, but I tend to like mine a little more close-fitting. That way I can wear a blousy top and not look huge.

Looks great. I do not wear shot shorts either. I think they look, well, inappropriate. My husband tells me he does nto want to see me dressed like Dora the explorer, haha, but I think you pulled this style off nicely and need to reconsider buying some shorts like those.

Emily said...

They look fantastic on you! But then you have such nice thin legs. There's no way I could go near that look, but I always envy people who can!

Cute outfit! Love the shoes! ;-)

Katrina said...

Yes, shorts make summer hard for me. I'm fairly tall, and short styles keep getting shorter, or go all the way for capris which is longer than what I'd like. So I agree, staying modest in the summer can be tough when there aren't any shorts long enough to come even close to your knees.

I did luck out and find a chocolate brown khaki pair, that nearly grazed my knee, and i was so desperate for shorts I compromised and bought them. Not long enough to roll up and look as cool as these, but close.

yours truly dear said...

excellent. i have the worst time finding shorts. so i don't own any. i have 3 pairs of capris and that's it. i need to follow your lead on this one though, because it looks great!
