We were in L.A. all day today looking for an apartment - so far, nothing yet. We were so busy today running around the city I forgot an outfit pic. This is me in all my tired glory.

I wanted to be comfortable during our 6 hour drive but still wanted to look good enough for L.A. I've always worn this dress with a belt because I feel like it swallows me up when I don't. Everyone always tells you to belt dresses so you can show off your waist and blah blah blah. But sometimes a belt just reminds you of that big greasy burger you ate earlier...

Wearing a bib necklace made by Ela (won from her giveaway), secondhand Simply Vera dress ($12), and F21 sequin flats ($5).
Random trip picture of the day:
I very much wanted to join them. It was sooo hot in the Philippines.
As much as I love belting things (I also belt everything-- sandwiches, books, etc.... ok, jk), sometimes it's nice to let loose, literally. I really like the play of patterns here!

You look great! Love the necklace! I know you're supposed to belt these type of dresses too but I love letting them loose - it's so much more comfy!

The dress looks great unbelted. You look effortlessly chic. And glorious.
ReplyDeleteAnd what now, you two are moving? Sacramento Valley not big enough for the two of us? Stay in Nor-cal, we love you!
I love the bib necklace! Did you make it? I've been thinking about attempting my own lately.
ReplyDeleteGood luck in you search. Craigslist is the best place to look at.

Bib necklaces are my favorite right now!
ReplyDeleteI love the look on you!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if you checked today, but you might want to try checking out City Park Apartments. I think they're right off of 30th street. There's a shuttle that even stops by the complex so it's convenient to get to campus. (I'm an undergrad at SC, fight on!)

love the dress girl!

ReplyDeleteYou still look gorgeous even if you´re tired! Love your dress, I always wear mine beltless to hide the bulges. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love the necklace and the dress together. Apartment hunting can definitely be hard... good luck! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the print of your dress and your statement necklace. I think the dress works fantastically without the belt--it has a great silhouette. I hope you find an apartment you like soon!
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous! I LOVE dresses like this, but H hates them because he says they make me look like SpongeBob. Whatever.

You don't look that tired, you look fabulous and I have to agree with Jen, you have shown us how to rock on a pretty dress without a belt. Oh, and I must say these sequin flats just love your dress, they make a perfect match <3
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you two will find THE apartment. May God bless you !
I am the worst at belting dresses. I can never get the belt to stay put, and I find the amount of bunching gets on my nerves. It always looks fantastic, but I can't seem to manage it. I think this dress looks great as is - very pretty but casual.

Ooh it's a different look for you isn't it? I'm not used to seeing photos of you where you aren't showing off that tiny waist and lovely shape of yours, so this was quite a change. But you know what? You look gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteYou look really good! :)
ReplyDeletedoesn't sc have graduate apartments? (for married couples too i think). it might be a little far for your hb to travel, but pasadena has a metro and there are TONS of apts that are nicer there and it's a bit more affordable. a lot of people also do the other commute from santa monica to sc.
ReplyDeleteGood luck apartment hunting. Have you tried going through the housing office at your husband's university? I would try contacting them and asking for help or ideas of where to look.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the apartment search, living in LA can be a hassle, but it's worth it. When the weather gets hot, I hate wearing belts because it makes me feel so sticky. And your dress works perfectly for LA weather...so light and breezy looking! =)
ReplyDeletetired yet you still look great! hope it went well :)
ReplyDeleteyou look gorgeous♥
ReplyDeleteThis dress is so adorable on you without the belt. You look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteWhere are you looking in LA? Have you tried Palms/Culver City the prices are a little better and it's very young and up and coming. You can find a good deal sometimes in Venice...but there is traffic and the apartments aren't so great.
ReplyDeleteyou look great! Not at all like you had been looking at apartments all day. I hate doing the apartment hunt, love being in my own house now
ReplyDeleteI love the dress, and while belts are usually awesome, sometimes you've just got to embrace the moomooness.
ReplyDeletebelts are sweat traps in the summer! sometimes you gotta just go without it!
ReplyDeleteI think you look really relaxed and comfortable with this dress unbelted. And, it's now two dresses in one (belted and unbelted) which makes it even more fantastic. Good luck with apartment hunting, it's such a pain!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute and classic dress! You look so comfy and chic :)
ReplyDeleteFabulous outfit, the necklace is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteTired? It doesn't show. I wouldn't be surprised if papparazzi started snapping pictures of you.

I think it looks fine. Could look better with a belt, but hey? you were going for comfortable! Right?! Comfortable is sometimes all you need! Just don't let me see you in shoulder pads.....yecK! Nasty things!
