Last month, Jen suggested I check out the Roseville Auction. (Thanks, Jen!) There was a farmer's market and tons of vendors for business and personal items. The latter was my favorite - it felt like a big garage sale in one gigantic parking lot....wait, it was.

After being in the Philippines for a month, I really learned to hate the sun. Today was no exception. The sun beat its hatred back at me but being the smart Asian that I am, I punched it in the face with an umbrella. I don't want a tan - I'd like to keep my youth.....ful skin.

Some days I just stand in front of my closet and strew my clothes all over the bed to decide what to wear and then cry in a corner because I don't like my clothes. And then my husband comes in and sleeps on the floor. Last night/this morning was just like that. I needed to wear something acceptable for shopping at a parking lot garage sale and the fancy-pants mall they have in Roseville. And somehow this came up. And then I added the lace ribbon belt because we all need some lace in our lives.

Wearing J.Crew tee (gift from my mom), lace ribbon belt (from my MIL), Shade Clothing skirt ($12), and MIA brogues ($43).
Click on the links above to see how else I've worn these items.
Random trip of the day:
The beginning of the 420 step trek (and more hiking) to Batad, Philippines. We hiked all the way down to the rice terraces below. (And then all the way back up when going back to Banaue.) Now nobody can call me a weakling!!
love the outfit, very versatile! and yes, we do all need some lace in out lives :)

I saw you today at DSW! I didn't want to get all creeper status and say hello though.
ReplyDeleteAnd I carry around an umbrella too, not because I'm Asian but because I'm pale and sunburn in 5 minutes.
me my mother and boyfriend headed to the farmers market last weekend. we have so much fruit in the fridge that there is not much room for anything else.
ReplyDelete@Flora
ReplyDeleteWHAT!!! You should've said something!!! When I am shopping, I am half-robot. I'm so sad I didn't get to chat with you!!
love your outfit! You are right about carrying the umbrella. The other day I was driving WITH Sunscreen on and still got a sun burn all over my neck and chest ... i still can't figure out how but i am layering up even more while heading out in the sun here on...
ReplyDeleteI really love your hair in these pictures and you did a great job with the outfit.
ReplyDeleteI go through the same thing: I through all my clothes on my bed and claim that I have nothing to wear and get all sad.
I really love the skirt you're wearing: it's adorable.
Hahaha, I wonder if it's an Asian thing where you use an umbrella to ward off the sun. I've only ever seen Asians do that! On campus too, on occasion. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd just a question: do you curl your hair regularly? Because I think it's really pretty now and suits you so well. I may or may not be girl-crushing on it.

ReplyDeleteYou are incredibly more chic than the other guests at that event, apparently! Good for you, you're not wearing white sneakers and khakis.

Oh I forgot to mention that I do the same thing with my clothes... Make a big mess, then just feel depressed that I hate everything in my closet. Some days it's just like that, isn't it? =P I'm glad it's not just me.

You look so happy and pretty! I love your brogues and the quality of your pictures now =) I don't know why but I thought it was funny to picture your husband laying on the floor while you were crying over your clothes. Every woman feels like that sometimes and that's perfectly normal. Men may not understand but I am pretty sure your husband is one of the exceptions =) Have an amazing week!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy every second of your sunny days!
God bless you.
xoxo, Larysse
I love your outfit here

ReplyDeleteYour expressions in the first 3 pics are really something, you've become quite the model. But I'm biased, I like the last picture best because you're smiling. That's always nice to see.

ReplyDeletethat first picture of you is particularly stunning!
ReplyDeleteI went to Denio's once! I thought that it might be Denio's when you said Roseville. Are you staying in Sacramento? I thought you were farther south for some reason.
ReplyDeleteI didn't get much when I went to Denio's, but I remember getting these HUGE beautifulllll avocados for cheap. Seriously, the were huge with tiny tiny seeds so you got a lot of avocado per fruit. It was magical. I miss avocados.
SO agree with you! Tan's are so aging!!
ReplyDeleteI need to wear this skirt more often! I feel like you've worn it 10 times more than me and have rocked it every.single.time!
ReplyDeletei LOVE the first pic of u. u a such a beauty!
ReplyDeleteI arrived home today and found my niece sleeping on the floor because it was so hot. :P
ReplyDeleteYour smile is amazing Elaine.

How are you??? Hope everything's fine.

I burned so badly when I was in California a couple of weeks ago. I had loved my ultra pale skin before and now I'm actually tan (now that the burn has peeled off). I still should have taken a cue from you and used an umbrella!
