Memory Grove

Here is the second dress I received from William Riera. This is the Athena dress. I fell in love with this dress when I first put it on. I didn't like it at first because of the two buttons on the left side of the collar but it fits so well and so comfortably that it doesn't even matter! Plus, you get extra tummy coverage. I wore this around the house all day just because I feel like I'm wearing pajamas....but in dress-form.

This post is dedicated to my dear husband who I begged to take me to the park for pictures. He had a bunch of school things to do during the break and he stayed home all day today to do it but he couldn't concentrate because of me. I've been jabbering away about blah-blah-nothings as I cleaned and tidied up and he had to put up with it! Poor guy. I think we need an office.

Anyway, we finally heard back from grad schools for him! Now we have to decide between Utah and USC. On our way home from San Diego, we visited USC and LA and we absolutely loved it (especially Koreatown)! We just need to figure things out financially....because we're poor, you see. So what do you guys think... Utah or USC?

What a gorgeous dress! I love the extra bandage around the waist. This is my go-to fabric for the summer time. It's perfect, lightweight and SO flexible.

Cute outfit. I guess it depends on whether the faculty have similar research interests and which school gives him a better fellowship or assistantship. What is he leaning toward?

Elaine, the Athena dress looks fabulous on you! I especially want to win the William Riera giveaway now. I love that the dress can be worn by itself and look so classy, or accessorized and transformed into a whole different style.

While I would be super sad to see such a fashionable Utahn leave, it'd sure be hard to turn down Southern Cal! Good luck on your decision. Oh, and the outfit rocks! As usual. :D

And you know my opinion on schools. The positive of going to UT-you don't have to move. The negative? You have to stay in UT.
The positive of going to USC? You gte to come to CA, where the weather is almost always gorgeous, LOTS to do around, and of course, your an hour North from me. Well, you'll figure it out. Make sure to e-mail/call me when you decide, I'm excited you could be moving here!!!

PS i'm going to have to vote TROJANS all the way!!! my dad went to USC for grad school and he loved it! although, i do have to say that the campus isn't in the nicest area of town and, at least when my dad went there, paying to park was pretty expensive. but, LA is one of my favorite places, there is so much to do and so many fun people.

Hi!

Love your blog, I've been following you for a while :)

I started to look for blogs from people from SLC since I'm going all the way over there from Puerto Rico to study a year in the University of Utah as an exchange student starting on August.
I've been really into fashion blogs these past months and I'm glad I found yours!
I hope we can exchange e-mails so I can get to know a bit more about SLC since right now I'm really clueless about the city or the university. I think you study there right?
My email is dalizk@hotmail.com and I'm really hoping to hear from you.
Sorry for my English :D

Beautiful outfit and YOU ! USC has a lot of WOW power to say you graduated from there. I grew up in Cali in suburbs of LA...loved it then...not now...only like to visit family there and get out of town ASAP !

Utah...too much snow for me ! Not a lot of Wow power either graduation wise but it's cheaper to live there than anywhere in Cali !

I love how you style this dress to be both dressy and super femme (without the cardigan) and then really classic preppy and more casual with the striped cardigan. You really have a great eye for combinations.
Congrats on your husband getting into such great schools. Here is my advice (I had two great schools to choose from too). Figure out what is the most important factor for his success in graduate school. I chose the school with the urban environment so I could enjoy the benefits of the city as a way to get away from the stresses of graduate school. It was good because even though it was a bit more expensive, there were more job opportunities for the summer and ways to meet folks outside of graduate school. The other school was more suburban and small in its setting, which would have been nice because there would be little distractions from studying and therefore would be good for focus, and possibly would mean less debt (except for the summer thing). A friend of mine went to a school like that and what she did was save her money and do a few longer weekend trips out of the little town to a big city to enjoy herself. Both worked out well in the end. Ultimately, grad school will be what you (your husband) makes of it. Since you'll be looking for a job, you might want to consider which place has more job opportunities, lower employment rates, etc.
Good luck!
