Black Out

Tuesday, March 02, 2010
This isn't too exciting but it was one of those mornings where I wanted to stay in bed all day! So, of course, black was the safest option. What do you wear on your off-days??

I was snapped on campus yesterday by a Salt Lake street style website. It's nice to know someone wanted to take a picture of me besides my husband.... ;)

  1. Return of the leopard print scarf! (that almost sounds like it would be a bad movie)

Your off days look totally better than my off days. Today I just kept it simple with a kerchief to top it off-- but I usually don't want to take photos on my off days. :/

  8. totally had an off day today too- yoga pants/loose jeans, a tank and a zip up hoodie...I try and pair it with cute flats if I actually go out in public.
    love the scarf with everything.

  9. I love that all the black brings complete focus on the scarf!

PS. It is TOTALLY a small world! I knew Cheryl from the ward, but she is actually my hometeacher's girlfriend! They are the cutest together! I'll ask her about you and tell her you said hi!

  10. I am really liking this look. While a black bag would also go with it (obviously) I think it's just that much better with the brown/cognac one--nice! On my truly off days (when I am not posting an OOTD) I wear old jeans and hoodies. When I have to look presentable, I actually like wearing something bright to make me feel better. :)

    Btw, I love your hair!

  11. Oh my goodness, I love this. So chic. I love the jacket, scarf and bag. I really wish I had a scarf like that! Where did you get it?

  12. in my off days, i wear black too!! :D it's just easy to be chic in it!!

this outfit is really amazing on you!

  13. In my college days, black was my work uniform (stage techie). Now my off days are sweats, although I'm seeing lots of teens running around in pajama bottoms. Can a middle age woman get away with that, or would that just burn people's retinas?

  14. Leggings or knit pants, tshirt and long cardigan. :)

    Love your look!

  15. all black is my go-to outfit as well. it's guaranteed to look great no matter what. love how you spiced it up with that bag and the leopard print scarf :)

  29. great combo...i love the animal print scarf! on my off days or on those days when i "feel fat" i stick to leggings,a tunic and cute ballerina slip ons...covers me up, makes me feel girly without putting in too much effort and flatters my toned legs and hands =)

  37. Congrats on being noticed & featured! I'm sorry that you weren't feeling at your best, but you certainly didn't look "off". I think the animal print and black ensemble gives you a bit of an authoritarian or "in control" vibe, and I hope it made you feel as confident as you appear.

  38. Cute! I love that bag.

I wear all black on my off days too, or black and gray.

  42. Very well done, Elaine. It´s all about the scarf, that adds just enough colour to be not too prominent...

    ReplyDelete
  43. Simple outfits can be the most flattering sometimes! I love that you still look incredibly stylish with your fantastic bag, coat and scarf.

On my off days, I normally wear a pair of my favorite jeans and an oversized men's button down shirt (and a huge cocktail ring).

    ReplyDelete
  44. I do really like the all black on you with the print scarf.
On my off days hrmmm I usually wear something baggy. I hate those days when I feel horrible in anything I put on.

  45. Lovely as usual ;) sometimes off-days are the most refreshing of looks because we don't try as hard. I'm like you though, I tend to gravitate toward what's easiest on my off days, very monochromatic looks, the kind that would blend in if I didn't had a little extra something. I must say though, your attention to details as with your scarf and bag, makes this outfit truly effortlessly chic.

  46. I love the something something your scarf adds to that simple black look. You look fantastic!

P.S. I just bought those ballet flats from DSW - they are so comfy!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I do the exact same thing on my days off (black black black), but I don't look half as stylish as you - I think the scarf and the bag keep it looking pulled together.
