Thank you for all your responses from the last post! In the end I have to say I agree with Style Artisan and jesse.anne.o. We are responsible for the "labels" we portray to the world. If we want to be beautiful today, we can be. If we want to be sexy tomorrow, we can be that too. It also depends on the other person's perspective and how they view you but the other half is our responsibility.

On to today's outfit! My husband said this was a little too casual for church but I thought it was okay.. I think it was because of the denim shirt. I found this shirt and the boots at the American Fork DI! Lucky me, huh? Salt Lake's DI isn't that great. I heard the Welfare Square one is better than the one on 7th S. So I guess I've been looking in the wrong places.

I've had these cream tights for a few years but only wore them once. I didn't know how to wear them! Cream/white tights are so hard to wear! But I saw a lot of fashion bloggers sporting them so I thought I'd try it... I'm still going to need a lot of inspiration for them though!!

Thank you to sarahtay for the blog award! And I have TWO interviews to share with you! Go to Taqwa Iman to see what I had to say about modesty and to my good friend Meg's blog, freshbrownies, for a personal interview.

  1. Are you freaking kidding me? Those boots are thrifted?? Seriously, you have a gift. I totally love this outfit, and I love love love the denim shirt. It's such a great fit. I never know how to wear denim when it's not my pants... if that makes sense. But this looks fab.

    Your spotlight is up. :)
Thanks for letting me do it!!

  2. I think you rocked the cream tights! I've never given 'em a try, but seeing them on other bloggers definitely makes one a bit bolder. :)

  3. oh my gosh, I totally want this chambray shirt! I have been looking for one like this EVERYWHERE! You styled is marvelously!

  4. I'm not sure about the fanciness of church, but this outfit is awesome. Love the girly skirt and the workman's shirt combo. Serious love.

I've also been contemplating the cream tights move! As a treat for taking the GRE tomorrow I decided I'm going to buy myself a pair... stay tuned to see how that turns out.

  5. Love the boots great deal! Seriously can't believe those are a DI deal... That last picture of you is Lovely, just gorgeous! Very cute outfit very jealous of the boots!

  6. I like your boots and tights. I've been wanting some cream tights, I think they'd be great for spring!

  7. I think that you look:

amazing, beautiful, chic, stylish, casual, feminine, pretty, sexy, and happy.

All of those labels, and then some, describe how great you look today! :)

  8. that is a great look for church! but anything for church goes for me as long as it's a skirt/dress and modest lol

    ReplyDelete
  9. SO AWESOME that you thrifted those boots! i saw the boots and immediately went down to see the brand/source. what an amazing find!

i think the whole look would be appropriate for the church i grew up in. i know a lot of "mega" churches are wayyyyyy casual these days and i've never been to a LDS but looks good to me haha!

i didn't get to comment on the last post but i agree... we are responsible for a lot of the way we are viewed. but perspective does have a lot to say, too. one of my best friends from elementary school has a verrrryy different take on style than i do. if you gave us a goal to style something as pretty and feminine, we would come up with completely different things. and my version of sexy and hers are ENTIRELY different. it's just a lot of give and take but we do play a big role, obviously.

  10. I think this is one of my favorite outfits. It has a very effortless vibe, even though it's so well put together.

  16. What a great denim shirt and pretty way of wearing it. I've got a denim shirt that's been sitting in my closet forever because I can't figure out how to style it without looking too country or kind of costume-y.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Those are some great finds! I don't think it's too casual for church either. Everyone has different opinions. ::shrugs::

Your philosophy reminds me of a Sophia Loren quote:
"Sex appeal is fifty percent what you've got and fifty percent what people think you've got."

I think it's spot on. I just need to get more self confidence, some how. I hope it comes more with age like I've heard some people say it does...

  19. I'm sorry Elaine, but I'm with the husband. Denim has always been a no no to me for Church. I guess I go on the if I wouldn't wear it to a job interview, then it's not okay to wear to church.

    But you do look darling!!!

  20. hiya Elaine,
The floral and chambray is a sweet combo :)
    xo

    ReplyDelete
  21. I think this combination is perfect, however depending on how conservative church attire is for your church, it could be slightly inappropriate with the chambray shirt. I love the ensemble though, I just recently found a chambray shirt thrifting as well. I love the boots, I cannot believe they are thrifted! Great post!

  22. Love the outfit. I don't think its too casual for church. I think its rather lovely. The tights look great with this.

Then I saw you in this outfit and it's total perfection, what a great combination! Also, love the pairing of the cream tights and brown boots, and I agree that cream tights can be too toddler-like, but they can work!!!

  50. So I've totally been digging the denim shirt that I've been seeing everywhere but haven't really known how to style them because I don't wear denim with denim. It's a little too wild, wild west for me. But seeing it with your beautiful floral skirt, I'm inspired to try and figure something out. It looks so nice and put together but still really comfortable.

  66. This look is so rustic and feminine all at once! I just started wearing creamy tights, too. I always thought they would be hard to pull off (I was afraid of looking like a old-fashioned nurse or something) but they actually can go with so many things. I can't wait to see how you wear them in other ways!

    ReplyDelete
  67. i totally love this and am wearing this same skirt today!! how do you get the skirt not to stick to your tights? mine has been riding up all day...i guess i should put my slip on next time.
and i LOVE it with denim--unexpectedly feminine and lovely.

  68. This is such a fab ourfit. The cream tights were actually the first thing I ntoiced (strangely as the skirt has some crazy colours) anyway I have a pair similar and never know how to wear them either.

  82. The denim/floral pairing is so refreshing and on trend. I love how you've reworn this skirt -- it's probably one of my favorite pieces in your closet.
I think this outfit is very appropriate for church. I've never been to an LDS church, but I grew up in a Catholic church that was very dressy -- skirts and hose for women and suits for men. It's become more casual since then (blazers and nice jeans are okay).
I think you've done a beautiful mix here of casual and dressy.
