Utahns will probably recognize this campus. If not, shame on you! It's okay though - like the title suggests, I'm not a Cougar! ;) You can probably guess what school I go to now.. hahaha! So tell me...are you a Cougar or a Ute? ...or if you don't know what I'm talking about, what's your school mascot?

Today's outfit was actually inspired by What Would a Nerd Wear. I couldn't figure out what to wear this morning and took a look at my favorite blogs and I loved how she wore her denim shirt and just had to use the same color scheme. I want to wear this shirt again tomorrow but I think that would be overkill...right? No worries... My sister found me a blue plaid dress today at the Provo DI - so prairie-like but still appropriate to wear in today's society....at least I hope so. I'll probably wear it tomorrow so you can be the judge of that!

Wearing Gap cardigan ($12), thrifted Gap shirt ($4), husband's belt ($10), secondhand BDG jeans ($10), and MIA brogues ($43).
COUGAR. but don't tell, i mean obviously i go to the U. we love the Y, GO COUGS!
ReplyDeleteand love your outfit. your so creative. and skinny. jealous.
I think the shirt is appropriate and it looks great with the sweater.
ReplyDeleteI'm a Terrapin!
Hahaha, oh how convenient that must be to have a cougar be your school mascot. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm currently crushing on brogues, so I'm loving your whole look! Can't wait to see how you interpret Little House on the Prairie to modern times.
http://charmalade.blogspot.com
i'm a prairie fire!
ReplyDeletei love your brogues too!
I love it rolled up with the cardigan! Who knew denim could look so chic?
ReplyDeletei never thought double denim could look so stylish! props to you!
ReplyDeletei really love the denim shirt with the denim pants! i never thought they could work together but the gray shade of the pants makes it look amazing :)
ReplyDeletemy school mascot isn't even an animal. we're the scarlet knights haha

ReplyDeleteSE x
loveee your outfit.
ReplyDeleteumm, high school was a unicorn but my uni doesn't have one. boo! x
I'm a pirate! Argh!
ReplyDeleteLove the look. I can't wait to see the prairie dress!
I have to admit, I never thought the denim with the denim would really work well, but after seeing you and What a Nerd Would Wear, I'm convinced! It looks so good.
ReplyDeleteAnd love the shoes!
ShopTOLive.ca
lovely shirt! denim works!
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit -- I've been admiring the chambray/denim shirts I've seen around for a while, and wanting to get one but not knowing how to style it. I like this idea!
ReplyDeleteAlso, both my parents went to BYU, so I guess I'm a cougar by default, but I don't live in Utah, so I'm spared any feelings of rivalry. On the other hand, I'm 100% an NCSU fan {Go Wolfpack!}, and therefore intensely loathe both UNC and Duke.

I am afraid if I say "Go Utes" it might be classless ;) Love your blog!!!

i actually am a cougar, but not a byu cougar. if i'd gone to film school i would have been a fighting pickle.
ReplyDeletethose jeans are fab on you
ReplyDeleteI really love your Oxfords! =] my mascot is "The Golden Knight" lol but besides that you look great!
ReplyDeleteI graduated from Marshall University in Huntington, WV...We are the Thundering Herd.
ReplyDeleteBut our actual mascot is just 1 buffalo name Marco.
Technicaly speaking, I'm a Thunderbird (from Southern Utah University). But since I married a Cougar and live close enough to campus to hear the EFY kids all summer long, I think I get an honorary pass. Funny how I never wanted to do the BYU thing at all; life has just turned out that way!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the shirt/cardigan combo here. The shoes are also making me salivate. In a non-creepy way. =)
I'm homeschooled, I guess Jesus is my mascot! : ) Love the outfit! Can't wait to see the "praire" dress! I love old looking clothes. Honestly, I'd run around in floor length dresses if they sold them! I'm working on sewing some, but so far all of them look "blech!" : )
ReplyDeleteI love this look on you! You wear the denim shirt so well!
ReplyDeleteYou can totally wear the same shirt two days in a row, especially if you don't see the same people. I always had Monday/Wednesday/Friday classes and Tuesday/Thursday classes, so I would totally wear the same thing back to back. (Unless I had the same people in multiple classes, of course.)
ReplyDeleteI was a Sun Devil!
Great pants. And the side-swept bangs are very cute!
ReplyDeletegreat jeans. You make the HFAC look stylin.
ReplyDeleteI like to think I'm a cougar in more ways than one.
whoaa the denim on denim never look so good! i love the different shades of denim in this outfit and the black cardigan adds a nice touch :)
ReplyDeletewww.monochromachic.com

ReplyDelete-Coco from Our Paper Moon
Love the laid-back look. I don't know what my school mascot is... I know there's a statue of a big carabao and a nude man in front of our campus... maybe it's either of the two. Hahaha!
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's day Elaine! xoxo

ReplyDeleteI love your outfit! The shirt is a really pretty color. I love how you matched the two denims together. :)
ReplyDeletePS. I was a Kangaroo! Lol.
I'm dying for a denim shirt now that I've seen how adorable they are on everyone. Need? Not really. Want? Absolutely!
ReplyDeletethanks, elaine! i'm flattered to have inspired this! even before i read the post, i thought "i LOVE what elaine's done here. i have to copy this!" so funny.
ReplyDeletei actually like your denim shirt better than mine (which is the "boyfriend fit") and i LOVE how you've been wearing it. i was thinking about pairing it with the shade skirt, because i loved the way it looked when you put the two together.
in the meantime, i'm keeping my eyes out to thrift another chambray shirt--i am always in the mood to wear mine now.
Love the button down with the cardigan!
ReplyDeleteSuuuper cute. Love the textures.
ReplyDeleteI really want a denim shirt, I love how you can wear them with just about anything.
ReplyDeleteAnd my school mascot is the Gators. Go Gators!!
www.sonyasark.blogspot.com
you are so lucky to have the legs for these jeans :) you look amazing!
ReplyDeleteDear Elaine,
ReplyDeletethank you for your kind words on my blog, i really appreciate it :)
As you said, guys should pay more attention to what they look like. It´s really not that hard to improve a men´s attire...
I really like the denim shirt, it fits your body perfectly. Best part of it? The hem on the left side popping out...
Keep up the good work,
spoozy
I like the denim shirt, stylish but still casual and comfortable!
ReplyDeleteHey so I'm doing a giveaway on my blog, it's my first one =) Hopefully you can check it out!
oh my you look so sweet:)
ReplyDeleteI've had a weakness for denim shirts for a looong time now. And seeing you in a denim shirt only makes me feel like I need one even more! Especially like how you paired it with the black cardigan. It makes the denim look really sharp!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the shirt, it's exactly what I want to wear today. So comfey and stylish. Well, unless I get some more visits to my site, your probably going to win that lash extending stuff. ;) I will be having another giveaway soon, too, a company just contacted me for a review of products(hats, hair accessories, etc...) and giveaway..so maybe you'll win that too. ;)
ReplyDeletethis outfit has a casual elegance about it --- you are rockin' that denim shirt, i love it! :) well, my school mascot is a nut (a poisonous one) called a buckeye. buckeye trees grow EVERYWHERE in ohio so i guess at the end of the 19th century when the school was founded it sounded like a good idea!

Great use of the denim shirt. Now I definitely need to find one (maybe I'll thrift one and figure out a way to make it more narrow). I also covet the grey skinnies. You look great.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the prairie dress. I am actually obsessed with any prairie style. Maybe it's because I love the 1970s and folk music, and Little House on the Prairie (and baking bread). I'll have to dig mine out too (when it gets much warmer)
Love it! the grey jeans are to die! i would have to say i am a cougar fan but actually i should probably be an aggie fan since we were up there for 4 years!! maybe its my hate for logan that I can't be an aggie fan ;)

ReplyDeleteWow I love your top and your shoes very much. The colours blue and grey work well together!
ReplyDeleteclassic pieces and i would wear this outfit in a heart beat. though, i'd probably wear it with baggy jeans since i tend to feel self-conscious wearing pencil jeans.
ReplyDeletei miss the gap's chambray shirts.
