Ruuuched!

Wednesday, January 20, 2010
Yuck, I look and felt super tired in this picture! Good thing I get to sleep in tomorrow!! ;) I got this cardigan because of the ruching?rucheing? on the upper arms. It cleverly conceals my arm flab.. I'm starting to think it is too long for my petite body so I may have to wear it tucked into skirts or something... We'll see!

I think it would be fun to do a little Q & A on my blog thing. ...maybe because I don't know if I'll post an outfit this weekend... or because it'll be a chance for you to ask me anything! But nothing too crazy! ;)

What's your idea of a perfect day?

  3. I loove grey cardigans with black pants! Hmmm I can't think of a question right now, but I'm looking forward to the Q and A post!

  4. I LOVE that scarf, super super chic with the gray/black color combo.

  5. I'm such a sucker for leopard print scarves (I actually wore gray+leopard here http://charmalade.blogspot.com/2009/12/you-cozy-in-there.html), I like your outfit. :)

And thank you for your kind comment!

Q&A: What's your biggest little pleasure?

  6. I think that sweater is very flattering—and not too long at all, though tucking it into a skirt is a way to make it 2-looks-in-1, which I love. The sleeves are such a fun way to give a basic piece a little more oomph. :)

  9. The cardi is awesome! And I think it's a great length on you, I actually hate when my sweaters and cardi's don't go lower on my waist because I feel like I look VERY hippy, and that's never ever a good thing. Go away hips!! =P

  10. I love your scarf.

My question: when are you planning to have a baby?

  11. Hi Elaine, I love that outfit in Sunday Rose. Everything about it was so cute, the red shirt, the necklace, and LOVED the tights. Hmmmm, my question for you would be, What is your favorite store to shop at? How long have you been married? Are you thinking about babies anytime soon? You'd me the most stylish mom ever :) And I can't believe you think your arms are flabby, you're so funny. You're like the tiniest thing ever!

  15. Thanks for your comment on Cubic Dreams. I love the concept of your blog. I should take notes from you, as I need to make the most of what I already have rather than feel tempted to buy new things all the time. I'm following :)

  18. I luv ur cardigan and scarf together hun! What is your favourite item of clothing and why?

    Have a stunning day xxx

  19. I like how the scarf brings a different colour to the outfit. I have the same issue with tops and them being too long. Annoying.

My question would be: WHat is your favourite item with your own? (Not necessarily clothes wise... just anything)

Question: Where do you plan to live after college? And when does your husband graduate?

    ReplyDelete
  27. I think I have that same sweater and I totally love the ruched sleeves. They are nice for balancing out the hips.

And speaking of hips and flab...I'm totally jealous that you can button your cardigan all the way down. I can button it across my boobs, but that's about it. You look great!

  28. even in a monocromatic look, you're adorable!

my question would be: what is your favorite style trend of the moment? least favorite?

    Enjoy your day!

  30. Hi Elaine! Thanks for stopping by : ) I've been reading your blog for a while. You've got such great styling ideas and it's impressive to know how little you spend on each outfit!

  31. That cardigan is super cute! Love the sleeves, and I don't think it's too long.

Here's my not-so-interesting question: how tall are you? I'm always curious because I'm only 5'1. I'm hoping one of these days I'll find a fashion blogger somewhat similar in size so I can do clothing swaps by mail! Probably easier with shirts and sweaters... :o)

  35. elaine! you look gorgeous :) when i saw this blog post, though, i immediately thought you had shopped at the online store, Ruche. definitely check them out though, you would like them!: shopruche.com :)

  36. i love this look and i think the long top is flattering. maybe you could belt it if you wanted to make your legs look longer?? though sometimes i feel bizarre belting a sweater with pants. ah, well.

as for questions: i have one that i've been dying to ask you!! how do you define modest dressing, and why is it important to you?? i'm so interested in knowing what you think are the perameters for modest dressing and the impetus to dress modestly, because i find that i am a very modest dresser (part of why i adore and find so much inspiration from your blog) but i would probably have different reasons than you. for me, it's a lot about comfort, looking appropriate for teaching and being an adult, and also about respect, but i would love to hear someone else articulate what/why is important about modesty.
    xoxo!

  37. The way you tied the scarf with the slightly puffed sleeves is perfection. Love it.

My question is related to WWANW right above me: How do you keep your modest fashion from getting stale/rote? It is something I struggle with, and you work your modest look so well

  38. That leopard scarf or whatever.. it's gorgeous. I think I already commented about that leopard thing on your previous posts. Hehe! :)

Question : Are you in Utah for good? :)

  40. You look perfect and I don't think the top is too long for you...actually, it makes you look taller and leaner to me. As for flappy arms, I could fly away right now...LOL ( not you, we are so hard on ourselves and our body images )

I would love a Q & A post. Being a Grandma, I am clueless on how far I can go in my fashion choices so I don't look just silly ( trying to look young when I'm not anymore ) I see so many women doing this and it's tragic when it happens !

  41. oh goodness- of course you don't look tired in these pics- you look great! i love the sweater, even if it's probably not hiding anything.

as for me, i've got some questions for you: why did you start blogging? have you ever felt embarrassed to say that you have a blog? what's a guilty pleasure of yours? where do you draw yours inspirations from? and if you could choose anyone, which fashion blogger would you like to meet?

    thanks for stopping by!
