Good, Not Great

Saturday, January 30, 2010
I don't know if I really like this outfit... It's one of those outfits you put on in the morning and you feel great but as the day goes on you don't feel good in it anymore. I think that's why I haven't really been posting outfits this week. I like to post outfits that I am proud of and this? ..not so much. Are there any other bloggers who feel like that? And if you do, do you still post your outfit? or skip?

  1. I'm not a blogger, but sometimes I feel like that. But I actually like your outfit :). And I absolutely adore the skirt :). I never seem to find skirts like that though --'.

  3. I have to agree with everyone else - that is a super outfit. If I managed to put together something that cute, I would be head over heels pleased. The skirt is awesome and I love how you manage to wear scarves without looking like it's going to swallow you whole. You look lovely!!

  4. Oh I've had those moments! I even went home and immediately put it in the Goodwill pile!

I love that scarf! I need to start collecting scarves.

  5. I actually think this is one of my favorite outfits - you should be proud! But I understand, I often lose momentum/enthusiasm for my outfit as the day goes on ...I'm not sure exactly how it happens though. Sometimes I won't post it, and sometimes I will - it depends if I have something to say about it still, or if I find my choice amusing some how.

  6. i definitely have those days. often, i skip instead of posting, but sometimes i post, too (um, today anyone?), and then later think i shouldn't have.
but i also really like seeing people on their "off days." it's nice to know i'm not alone in putting together outfits i find less-than-perfect.
i do really love this scarf though--you are genius at tying them. my only thought is that i might have paired it with a black shirt (though i've been tending a little toward the matchymatch these days...).

  7. i feel like this A LOT. i think a lot of the reason i get that feeling, though, is because as a teacher the standing/walking/emotional tax really wears on me and i just feel all-around "blah" by the time my work day is finished.

that said... i really, really love the way this outfit looks on you. i think it's really flattering all around: slimming and the colors work so well with your skin tone and hair. don't be so down on yourself, you look great!

  8. this happens a lot to me. if i know it's just a thing about how i feel and not really about how i look, i post it anyway. however, if i realize that it was okay to go out but really didn't hit the mark or was generally uninspired, i don't post it. i do like your outfit a lot, though.

i also LOVE your new(?) blog header! it's awesome!

  9. I would buy this whole outfit in your shop today, but it wouldn't fit me.

I sometimes also have that downward trend as a day progresses, but I think that often it is more that I am not having a good day in general and just project that onto my clothes.

I have pictures of outfits that I have not posted for that reason. But that is OK. It allows me to look back on them later from a fresh perspective and be a little more objective about what I see.

If I still don't like it, I try to figure out what I could do better next time.

  10. i dont see anything wrong with it...but its normal to feel like that....im still in awe in the many ways you have styled that scarf!

  12. Well the good news is that the outfit still looks good!

    ReplyDelete
  13. The same thing happens to me.
Or sometimes an outfit that feels great doesn't photograph well, or one that makes me feel frumpy looks amazing in photos. Live and learn I guess.
For the record I love this look, especially the belt.
Oh, and love your new header too!

  14. That is a gorgeous skirt, and I love your tights they are so cool.

  15. I put my not so great outfits up- but I pretend I like them. Most of the time they look fine, they just don't give me that confidence that I love. Make sense?

    ReplyDelete
  16. You look great, but it's more important how the clothes make you feel. If you're not happy...

    ReplyDelete
  17. I totally know what you mean; some days I'm honestly so tired or late that I just throw something on and it isn't stellar. I'm bit of a perfectionist that way...

But I actually like the belt a lot in this outfit. :)

  18. I really like this outfit---I really like the combination of your belt, tights and skirt. So romantic looking.

I feel that way about my photos (like today's, ehh), but I try to post the photos whenever I can. I want to have an accurate reflection of my style on the blog, even if it's not always what I consider my best moment. I like posting them all because it's also a way to chronicle every choice, and it helps me improve for next time.

  19. oh yes -- i feel that way many a time. for what it's worth, i think you look darling in what you're wearing.

  20. I go through the same thing; I can distinctly remember wearing an outfit a few months ago and I loved it and then I felt like it was too weird to be cute and ppl were looking at me lol I ended up posting it anyway and getting compliments on it so I guess it was all in my head.

sorry for the long shpeel, anyway I really like this outfit. The skirt and the boots are some of my favorite items that you wear :)

  21. I really liked this outfit, but it is all about how you feel. Sometimes something really looks good, but feels fat, ugly, wrong, too big. I make Polyvore collages of my outfit everyday (started as a challenge to wear something "pulled together" everyday).

And, I love how you tied the scarf. How do you do that..?

    ReplyDelete
  22. oohh I like this outfit! It is so well balanced...simple but super chic!

    ReplyDelete
  23. i actually like this. ^^ love the colors... i feel that sometimes... but i post anyway. haha. ^^

    ReplyDelete
  24. I kind of know how you feel. There are certain outfits that I'm not proud of but I post them anyway. I want to look at everything years from now and see how my style has evolved. :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. I know exactly how you feel. That's usually every other day for me. :) However, I do really like this outfit, but my rule is if I'm not comfortable in it than it doesn't look good. I think you need to feel good in it to really think you look great in it...even though others think differently.

  26. I definitely have those days. I usually still post the outfits, but that may be mainly because I don't live with anyone and have come to value the days when I have my boyfriend or a friend around to help me out with the photography (and thus feel too bad discarding the shots). I like this a lot, though---the skirt and the scarf are so great together!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I usually only post outfits that I'm really happy with - but you never know how other people will feel about it - someone else could love it!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I like this look! u look gorgeous!
love ur skirt and belt .. :)
people may think the other way around with what u think :)

  29. I think you look lovely!

I know what you mean, it sucks =( I wore jeans to work 3 out of 5 days, so obviously I only posted pics from 2 days and did recipes for the other days. I feel like it's a waste of everyone's time if I'm posting an outfit that is clearly plain. But this, this is so cute you look awesome =)

  30. i'm loving this one! it's the perfect mix of blue and black and lotsa funk! one of my favorites!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I like your outfit, I especially love that scarf and how it perfectly frames your face ;)

    ReplyDelete
  32. there is that rare time where i will skip an outfit but for the most part i just post it. i honestly do like this outfit though. it shows how well you can remix your items such as this skirt and that belt. :) love the scarf as well.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Honestly, I like your outfit. Sometimes it's good to post outfits even if you're not sure if it's okay just to get some feedback. It's a learning process.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I know exactly how you feel. I really like that outfit, but sometimes that doesn't help, because it's the way YOU feel in it that matters. But you do look great :)

  35. I feel like that ALL the time! By the end of the day, I look at myself in the mirror and question my sanity.

Ah, oh well. I don't think people really notice what I wear anywho. I don't have a super cool fashion blog or anything ; )

    ReplyDelete
  36. I feel like that very often! At first I think that my outfit is great and I tell my mom to take few pictures but than I don't want to post these pictures just because I don't like the outfit any more.

PS. I LOVE your belt! It's so lovely <3! ^^

  37. It happens to me all the time, except I don't neccesarily feel obligated to post them because I put self timer on my self. I do wish I had a photographer though!

  39. I absolutely feel like that! I still post most of my outfits - I hate it when I don't notice that I dislike what I'm wearing until I'm already out of the house. I think that's the point of our outfit posing though, so we can reflect on what worked and what didn't.

    Love your scarf!

    ReplyDelete
  40. oh yes, I also feel like this. And this is the reason why I spend so much time on thinking what to wear the next day to fell good all day. But sometimes it's not working. I think you look really nice in this combo.

  41. I like this! You're cool, all of your fashion pics are really cool!
Btw,I'm new here, please visit my blog:)
    Thanks a lot♥

  42. I think both the scarf and the belt are the "soul" of this outfit.

  43. I like this. I think the scarf and the belt are both great touches. I mostly post my outfits in the morning on the day I'm wearing them so that doesn't give me the option to decide to post or not after I've worn it all day. I have skipped days though when my outfit was less than inspired for sure!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. I have a "re-style" folder and if I don't like how the pictures or the outfit turned out, I slip them into the restyle folder to try again sometime. I find that they are generally better the second time around.

But this is really cute. Loving those lace leggings!

  45. I think you look great!!!! i know how you feel though, I've put on many an outfit only to hate it as the day progresses....

    ReplyDelete
  46. i do really like it, mostly for the accessories i think - belt, tights & scarf :)

  47. I have those moments all the time. Usually if I don't feel an outfit I won't post it. I think it comes with the terrority of being a woman to have off days.

I think you look great here!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Oh, yes! I have felt that way at various times. I usually try to figure out what it is that's not working in the outfit or pinpoint how it's making me feel. I do post about it because I consider it a learning experience.

For the record, I love the way you styled that skirt and the belt is one of my favorite accessories of yours!

  49. I hate when I can't make up my mind about the outfit I'm wearing. However, I think you look fabulous :)

  54. I've been there, but I must concur with most everyone else that it's just fabulous. Looooove the skirt!

  55. I understand what you mean, Ive been crap at posting outfits recently because I live in jeans and boring things when Im working and do feel they are good enough outfits to bother showing anyone!

    ReplyDelete
  56. I actually like this a lot, but I know what you mean. There are also times when I feel totally fine, but then I take a photo of my OOTD and I'm like, "whoa, wait a second--this looks wacky." And sometimes that's in the morning before I leave for work and I rush to change, and sometimes that is later in the day and it is too late to change.

    ReplyDelete
  57. okay. the best part of your outfit: the way the scarf and belt buckle compliment one another. It pops!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I like this look- the scarf is so cute.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Oh, it's terrible to wear something in the morning and during the day start feel bad with it. It happens sometimes to me too.
    your outfit is cute!
    I loved your skirt!

  60. I like your outfit, I think all the colors look really good together. I do know what you mean though about not liking an outfit by the time the day is over. The worst is when I think I like an outfit until I see myself in the pictures! I normally don't post those outfits because I only want to show people something I feel good about myself in.

  63. As long as there's no pee, vomit, kneeholes, or mud, it's a nice outfit. Being a mom kind of changes one's perspective on fashion ;)

  64. Woah you don't like this outfit?? I think it is superb! You look beautiful!! I am so glad you put it up. I actually kinda wanna steal this look... it's adorbs! :)

    ReplyDelete
  66. I like this outfit, but yeah, I totally know what you mean though!

    ReplyDelete
  67. I love the pantyhose!!
I will also tell you that I have posted outfits that I have not felt good in at the end of the day. I do this for me to look back on and reflect about the outfit to try and figure out what it is exactly that I don't like about the outfit and what did I like from the beginning.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I can totally relate to how your feeling and the way that I see it is that no outfit will look good on someone if that person feels ugly or uncomfortable, so its definately got to do with the way you carry oneself when you wear an outfit and I think you look really good! I luv ur scarf mixed with ur belt and ur skirt. xx

    ReplyDelete
  69. Well, sometimes I feel the same. .
I just post outfit pics when I can steal a litle bit the camera from my aunt in Lisbon ;)
So when I have oppurtunity I take it.
By the way, for me this one is one of may favourites outfits, REALLY!!

  72. i definitely have days like this- in fact, I had a moment like this last week, on Thursday. When I first put it on, I thought I loved the outfit, but as the day went on, notsomuch. I sometimes post those outfits, and on other days, i'll take the picture and catalog it in a folder and know not to do it again. LOL

BTW- I Love that belt! CUTE!!!
