Crazy Eyes
I didn't realize my eyes were crazy like that until I put it on here.... I'll be honest, I don't really like this outfit. I never really liked that purple sweater. I always have trouble styling it because it hits right at my jeans and I don't like short tops. I don't even remember why I bought it in the first place!
Wearing Tulle coat ($44), F21 purple sweater ($10, last year), AE striped tee ($7), J Brand jeans ($158), MIA brogues ($43), and secondhand scarf ($3).
How else would you style this?
scarf! lovely <3
ReplyDeleteI think the purple sweater fits god in this outfit.
ReplyDeletebtw, i love your shoes
U look so unique as always, doll!
ReplyDeleteP.S.: So sorry Elaine...this is a closed giveaway. (2nd of December 6:05am) The newer one is: http://janetteria.blogspot.com/2009/12/4th.html for the Ellington feather headband...

the eyes are s funny! ;)
ReplyDeleteI don't like short tops either—but your solution (the striped longer shirt layered underneath) is a great one—I love layering stuff like this. I will be no help with suggestions because I actually like this outfits a lot! I do have another solution for short tops though: wearing them with at-waist skirts! I actually find it annoying with some of my skirts to have long tops on because the tops look lumpy over the zippers/buttons of the skirts.
ReplyDeleteoh yeah! I love the stripes and the scarf. You have the best scarves!
ReplyDeletehmmmmm...i've just been clearing out my wardrobe of anything that's too short, so i'm of no help! i think the pop of periwinkle looks great with the purple sweater, tho'!
ReplyDeletefyi...don't kill me, but i tagged you in a little quiz today! ;)
I think it looks great layered.
ReplyDeletei think it's perfect the way you have it. love the stripes peeking out. as always a perfect scarf!
ReplyDeleteGreat simple layers. You look nice and warm AND stylish.
ReplyDeleteHI DARLING, YOUR BLOG IS GETTING GREAT AND GREAT EVERYDAY! BEIJO
ReplyDelete@ MAISONCHAPLIN.BLOGSPOT.COM
I'd pair the shirt with hot pink skinnies!
ReplyDeleteCool shoes!
ReplyDeleteelaine, i think you look FABULOUS (i love purple and blue together). but i'll confess that i have this problem with too-short (and hence unflattering) sweaters and shirts.
ReplyDeletei think the only good solution is to put them into something high waisted or layer them under dresses, where the length doesn't show. even if i layer them over things, it still hits my body at a place i don't think flatters.
How else would you style the sweater? You could tuck it into a high-waisted skirt or something like e. said. I also like the layered look, but I think the sweater tucked into a skirt would be more... "you" I guess. =)
ReplyDeletePersonally, I think this look is just fine, and the lining of the jacket peeking out makes it special.
Saying that you have crazy eyes makes me think of Dr. Cox on Scrubs. =)

I would layered it with a white long cami, skinny jeans and boots or maybe a grey tunic underneath it would look cool too. I like it on you though.
ReplyDeletethat is totally my pet peeve... short shirts! I will always wear a white cami under ones that aren't long enough. I never understand it when I see girls wearing shirts that are too short and like ride up when they are walking.
ReplyDeleteIsn't the UNCOMFORTABLE?!
I t hink you pulled off the oufit really well. The stripped top looks really good.
ReplyDeleteyou look like you are about to kick someones butt. Watch out! I think you pulled off the look quite nicely!
ReplyDeleteyou put together the pieces perfectly ;)
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't change anything... it's getting cold in my city and I'm using lots of layers too... have a nice day Elaine
Gorgeous as always! Always so simple and chic!

Hey lady, you look fabulous :) thanks so much for the response to my rant. I really needed to get that out there in order to break through my writer's block and subsequent frustration with the way that fashion blogs are going. I myself am also a student who supports herself so I can totally relate to your points. The author of 'Haute World' actually made a good point, just tune them out, which I have proceed to do. I'll definitely keep visiting your blog though, solidarity sister, Ya Ya :)

Your eyes are very intense and I think that's fabulous don't you?
ReplyDeleteHmm...whenever I have short tops I tuck them into high waisted pants or skirts. Quick fix :)
Your eyes are crazy amazing!

That scarf looks like the comfiest, softest scarf ever.
ReplyDeleteI luv the way u styled your top, I like short tops but it depends on the style. Luv ur layering too! Hope u have a stunning day hun! : ) xxx
ReplyDeleteNiña, eres una preciosidad: elegante, creativa, muy personal...

Short sweaters are a problem of mine too and so I usually layer it with a long and colorful cami/shirt underneath. The stripes went well with your sweater.
ReplyDeleteThose are piercing eyes. I like looking at them actually. ;)
I have this problem too.
ReplyDeleteI think you have teamed this jumper perfectly with the striped top.
I love that coat too.
♥
That scarf is so lovely. The color looks amazing on you!
ReplyDeleteOther than layering (which you did well IMO) I like shorter tops tucked into high-waisted skirts, especially those with a slightly retro feel. Looks like a fairly fitted sweater, you could pair it with a higher waisted full skirt or pencil skirt. Even bridge the gap with one of your great scarfs you tie around your waist.
ReplyDeleteWow, such a darling outfit - I love the trench and those shoes are adorable!
ReplyDeleteI love the striped shirt underneath! - Natalya of Wear Necessities
ReplyDeletei think u style this outfit well:D i love how the striped blue top is peeking out underneath the purple sweater. u're title made me LOL:D love it!

I love the stripes against the purple, but what about tucking the sweater into high-waisted pants or a skirt? It would be cute with the sleeves pushed up and stripes peeking out, too.
