Flower Power

This is probably the third time I've worn this necklace because I frequently get stared at. It's definitely a statement necklace, that's for sure. It was fun to make but it's not fun to see something you made just sit on your dresser. I've tried to incorporate it into my outfits but often changed my mind. But after months of disuse, I had to do something about it. I get compliments on it but you know there are people who stare thinking "Why is there a garden attached to her chest?"
I trimmed my bangs last night. Then I remembered why I always tell myself I should never cut my own hair. I'll have to fix it tonight...hopefully, I don't screw up again.
Update: I seem to have confused a few of you! This picture is from yesterday after church. I cut my bangs that night so pictures coming tomorrow.... :)

Your D.I.Y necklace is lovely. Sometimes it's hard wearing something a little different and getting stared at, but if everyone dressed the same life would be boring!

LOve the flower necklace... statement piece for sure... yet it's not too over-powering. It's very pretty against the stripes :) You always look fab!

You definitely should wear it more often. I think it's fun when people stare lol. I know, weird, but I feel like if I'm brave enough to wear something so bold, I SHOULD get people's attention, whether good or bad. As long as I like it, that's ohkay with me! I have friends who thinks I wear weird stuff all the time and they don't hesitate to tell me, but I like it and I think it makes me different from all the "normal" looking people... haha

I really like how the necklace pops against the blue and white stripes!

... and your bangs look great! Though I know what you mean, whenever I trim my bangs with my 5 year-old status scissors I wonder what I am thinking of!

That's a great idea. Katy of katiedid.squarespace.com made something similar for her little girls this Easter, and I always thought it would be a good look for us big girls too. Anyone who wants to check out how she did it can visit: http://katiedid.squarespace.com/katie-did-journal/2009/5/1/tutorial-flower-collar.html

I'm way, way too chicken to try trimming my bangs. I've cut off weird sections that have grown faster than everything else, but never all of my bangs.

This outfit is PERFECT for that necklace Elaine.
You seriously have a fantastic sense of style. As I was just telling Kyla, I bought a blazer on the weekend to see if I can incorporate it as well as you both have in your wardrobes.
I'll just have to wait till our winter, haha.

Oh, also, I'd love to see how you made this necklace. Have you blogged a tutorial yet that I missed? :)

You're right, the necklace really makes a statement! It was the first thing that caught my attention, and I love it!
The second thing I noticed was your pretty pretty hair, and I'm sure that it would still look nice however much you think you botched your bangs (or at least it will grow back because that's one of the good things about hair XDD)

I LOVE the red lipstick on you! It looks so amazing with your haircut!

I always try to trim my own bangs, and thinks it looks OK, then I go to my hairstylist, and she notices it right away! I guess I don't do as good of a job as I thought! Haha

Perfect outfit and a truly beautiful necklace. You shouldn't let people giving you funny looks stop you from wearing something. If I did that, I'd have to walk around nude!

love that necklace! so bold and pretty. love it with the stripe. looks like it got a little warmer for you outside:)

If they stare....it's because they are jealous and want to know where to get their own. At least, that's why I'm staring. :)
