The Boyfriend Look

Friday, November 06, 2009
I broke my rule of opposites - I like to play with proportions (e.g. baggy with tight) but I think this looks too baggy. It looked great on Keri Russell but I'm not sure this fits my petite body. And I'm missing a belt.

Hey Salt Lakers, if you ever need a sushi fix, check out Cafe Trang on 3rd W. 2nd S. They have 50% off all special rolls after 5pm. You really can't beat that. And they were delicious!! We're sold.

Boots update: First of all, thank you for all your input! I ended up getting these in black and these in brown. I just wish they were here already! ;)

  1. Great take on Keri Russell's look, you look great Elaine! I think a belt may even work over the blazer... :)

  5. I really like boyfriend jeans... but they don't look good on me. My legs are a *bit* too curvy to wear them. I'd look just like a slob wearing them.

I like this look, but you're right, it looks a little too baggy or something... Maybe if the blazer had more of a fitted look??

    Still cute!

  7. Hmm. I like it. Maybe wearing it with a more fitted blazer would balance out the baggy & fitted combination?

  20. I tried on a few pairs of boyfriend jeans and found out I'm not tall enough or not angular enough or something. I'm 5'4"and 135, and they just looked like "mom" jeans on me. But they don't do this to you at all!!! I think you look adorable.

  27. Great blazer! I'll bet this would look great with a pair of tights or skinny jeans. The boyfriend look seems to be great with separates. You're so bold for trying it out though!

  29. I honestly love this.
A belt would have completed it yes, but that it looks great regardless!
Definitely will be trying this out (and linking back to you) for the cooler months here.

  30. I actually think you kind of rock the slouchy look. You should play with it a little (tighter on top, tighter on bottom, heels, flats, boots, etc.) until you find a "slouchiness" that fits you best. I really love this, though!

  31. what do you mean that it's too baggy? :) you look PERFECT! love this casual look ...
