Seen It All Before

10/28/2009

I've gotta admit.... I've been in a rut. It's just been too cold for me to be creative! I feel like I've worn a lot of this before...which I probably have. I've been living in jeans, boots, cardis, and coats. And if you've read this post, you know that's like....five things. So I'm asking for your help - send me your best, creative, fall outfits to elainehearn@gmail.com and you might be featured here this week!

Still, your outfit is cute! I think the cardigan makes it special.

I think I'm in a rut, too, so maybe I'll take your challenge. If I'm not too embarrassed by my boring clothes. =)

I can't wait to see other people's entries, though!

you ARE still super cute! I'll try to send you an outfit if I have time... right now I am rocking the soccer pants from highschool though, so I feel you on the fall rut!

I love your cute and classic style! But yes, it is easy to fall into a rut when the weather is uninspiring.
I find that wearing bright colours makes me feel better:

I have to say that you do look adorable. One thing that I like to do when it gets cold out is really start to incorporate tights/leggings/leg warmers. I'm a serious sweater tights girl. You can take a plain grey or black dress with a colorful sweater or cardigan, throw on a pair of striped/blocked/argyle tights with some boots and look amazing. At least that's what I've been doing this week!

I'm a new reader, so it's not old to me! Scarves and hats are my cold weather must-haves--I have tons. And I just have to say that I love your hair!

Thanks for getting back to me about the boots from a few posts ago. I think i just MAY order them.

I had another question for you: I have some meat on my bones and I want to be able to wear leggings and stockings without scaring anyone and incorporate some boots. Any ideas/alternatives? Any help/advice would be appreciated :)

Thanks again!

I still just love the look of rubber boots with skinny jeans. Just seems laid back but still trendy I suppose.

I need to get me some boots like yours!

Doesn't matter. Those boots are lovely and I can't get enough of them!

I still think that your tulle coat is super adorable! And I also like that you layered the blue-ish tee and cardigan under for colour :D

>_< I always thought that being cold would give more options for dressing up, since more layers means more combinations/permutations (I have thrown away my Math knowledge).
I hope you do find a lot of inspiration to get out of your rut though! I recently read a book on Fashion illustrations and the images were very inspiring! All those colours!

Love the layering and the pop of color from your cardigan!

@Chelsea Nicole

Hey Chelsea,

You can TOTALLY wear leggings and stockings! Leggings are a bit trickier... My personal rule is to always wear it with a short dress or tunic to cover the crotch area. I make sure that the dress/tunic hits mid-thigh (just because I'm not comfortable with anything shorter). And by pairing it with some knee-high boots, nobody can tell they're leggings! If you are self-conscious about your legs, try darker colors like black or navy blue. I only have black leggings :).

As for stockings, They're a YES. Always. No matter what your size, tights add a little something extra, especially if they're different colors, patterns, and prints. I've seen some bloggers pair their tights with knee-high socks and knee-high boots which I thought was a good idea! You should try that out!

Hope this helped!

When I get dressed in the morning on cold days I'm just so clueless...still so sleepy and mushy headed. Thinking about it the night before works...but somehow I forget and only end up doing that for Church, LOL.

Happy weekend!

Love your little cardigan, it's cute! It is so easy to get in a rut - seems like I'm always in one or just getting out...
